If you’re wondering what to do in Snowmass, well, let’s just start with the obvious…
Skiing and Snowboarding (for Every Skill Level)

With over 3,000 skiable acres, Snowmass is a giant of a mountain. There’s plenty of ski terrain here for every skill level—from the tender beginner to the adrenaline-fueled cliff jumper.
Snowmass also boasts the longest run in North America. Even their convenient gondola and lift systems are fast and fun! Simply put— Snowmass is the place to be this winter for world-class skiing and snowboarding. To see trail maps, buy lift tickets, and learn more about the Snowmass’s impressive stats, click here.
Off the slopes, the nearby Village, itself, is buzzing with activity. Once you’ve slipped out of your skis, you’ll find plenty to do in and around this vibrant ski town. Here are just a few suggestions for what to do in Snowmass.
Yoga in the Mountains (Get Your “OM” on at Altitude)
Whether you’re warming up for the slopes or stretching out your over-skied muscles, a trip to the yoga studio will certainly help. Coming this December, the Collective Snowmass will open up a brand new yoga space. They’ll feature popular local instructors weekly.
Want to get your “om” on independently? Make your way up to Spiral Point at the top of the Rim Trail. Here you’ll find a huge marble platform decorated Yin Yang style with breathtaking views of the mountains. Locals keep it cleared of snow in the winter. If you go, wear your warmest yoga pants!
Hot Air Ballooning (Rise above it ALL in Snowmass)
Are the Snowmass chair lifts, gondolas, and mountain tops not high enough for you? Then book a trip on a majestic, serene hot air balloon. Imagine seeing the Rocky Mountain peaks and the entire Roaring Fork Valley from high above while a technicolor sunrise lights up the sky. It’s a magical experience.
You’ll float quietly above the peaks and valleys, then touch down to a champagne brunch. Whether you’re looking for a family adventure in the clouds or a romantic trip for two, Above It All Balloon Company can give you a unique and unforgettable experience.
Anderson Ranch Arts Center (And You Thought All the Beauty Was Outdoors)
Located in Snowmass Village, the Anderson Ranch Arts Center is the artistic and cultural hub of Snowmass. Artists and art-lovers alike will love the workshops, gallery displays, and visiting artist lecture series.
Take a self-guided tour and marvel at the ranch’s colorful past. Peek inside their state-of-the-art studios. Take a painting or sculpting class. Make sure to stop by the gift shop for unique, local artwork and souvenirs.
Snowmass Lanes & Lounge (Bowling Like You’ve Never Experienced it Before)
Slip off the skis and slip into some retro bowling shoes. The Snowmass Lanes and Lounge is the perfect spot for some nighttime family fun or a great date night. With six professional bowling lanes, there’s plenty of opportunity for some friendly competition.
There’s also a live DJ, billiard tables, foosball, a huge projection screen and lounge area, and dartboards. Nibble on delicious wood-fired pizza and gourmet burgers. Sip on craft beer and cocktails. An upscale, luxury vibe gives you a feeling of comfort rarely experienced at a bowling alley.
Snowmass S’Mores (New This Winter Season!)
This classic, family-friendly tradition takes place at Base Village. It’s already been lovingly nicknamed S’Mass S’Mores.
Kids of all ages will delight in roasting gooey marshmallows. Then top them off with traditional—and not-so-traditional—toppings. See who can make up the most interesting and appetizing combo. It’s the perfect way for families to wind down during après-ski time—and fuel up with a bit of a sugar buzz!
Ice Climbing in Snowmass (Sometimes it’s More Fun to Go Up the Mountain)
Channel your winter Spiderman—aka your inner Peter “Parka”—and get ready to scale a frozen waterfall. Put on your crampons and get climbing! Imagine swinging your pick and pulling yourself up along a sparkling wall of ice. Be prepared—this isn’t the rubber climbing wall at your gym!
Snowmass offers ice climbing experiences for all levels of climbers. Local guides will walk you through all the tools and equipment you need to get started. Snowmass mountain has all levels of waterfall “walls” available to climb.
Snowmass Art Trail (Ok, Some of the Local Artistic Beauty IS Outside)
While visiting Snowmass, it’s hard to miss the impressive Art Trail. Interspersed throughout the village, the eclectic sculptures are a feast for the eyes.
The trail is intended “to express the town’s appreciation for community, self-expression, and celebration of life through public art by linking all areas of the town with a shared space of connectivity.” Click here to view a map of the trail, with the different notable artists highlighted.
Restaurants & Groceries (Where to Get A Delicious Meal in Snowmass)
After a day on the slopes or sightseeing, it’s always nice to tuck into a warm, cozy restaurant to refuel.
Stop by Slice of Italy for some cheesy garlic bread or a slice of their famous Double Diamond Five Cheese Pizza. Simple, casual, delicious. And always hits the spot.
The New Belgium Ranger Station invites you to “stop in for a bite and a brew—stay for the inviting atmosphere and positive vibes.” Sounds good to us!
They have twelve beers on tap. There’s also hand-crafted cocktails and an extensive wine list sure to please any après skier. Try their Hot Tots with Cheese Fondue, their Baked Pretzel Rolls with Honey Cinnamon Sauce, or the fiery 1554 Chili. Stop by on Tuesdays for the local favorite Trivia Night.
For a romantic date night, reserve a table at Il Poggio. Complete with marble tables, white table cloths, and cozy lighting, Il Poggio serves up some delicious Italian fare. Tuck into their Sweet Potato Ravioli or the Veal and Truffle Gnocchi. Top it all off with a silky Tiramisu. Yum!
