What’s new, Aspen summer 2026
- Two boutique hotels begin their first full summer: White Elephant Aspen (opened February 3, 2026) and MOLLIE Aspen (opened December 2025), both on the Main Street / Garmisch corner of the West End.
- The Aspen Music Festival opens its 76th season on July 1 under a “For All” theme tied to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence; the Aspen Ideas Festival splits into two back-to-back sessions — Festival 1 (June 25–28) and Festival 2 (June 28–July 1).
- Snowmass adds two new events to the 2026 summer calendar, anchored by the Audi Power of Four Mountain Bike Race — a 25-mile course with 5,000 feet of climbing.
- The Little Nell completed a full spa renovation, Hotel Jerome refreshed its guest rooms, and Aspen Meadows Resort added barrel saunas overlooking the panoramic mountain views.
- Best base depends on what you came for: West End / Main Street for festival walkability, Snowmass Village for the bike park and Audi Power of Four, Red Mountain or Red Butte for quieter evenings within easy reach of town.
A Quietly Big Summer for Aspen
Summer 2026 in Aspen is defined by the depth of its calendar. Two new boutique hotels, a renovated spa at The Little Nell, new saunas at Aspen Meadows, and a collection of restaurants are all entering their first summer season. The Aspen Music Festival opens its 76th season with a ‘For All’ theme. The Aspen Ideas Festival now runs as two consecutive sessions. Snowmass adds new summer events to a lineup that already includes the Audi Power of Four mountain bike race.
Here is the on-the-ground summary from a team that has been managing the finest homes in Aspen since 2003 — what is new, what is genuinely worth your time, and where to stay so the new things are within walking distance.
Two New Hotels Begin Their First Full Summer
White Elephant Aspen — Opened in February 2026
White Elephant Resorts opened White Elephant Aspen on 3 February 2026, the boutique brand’s first property west of Nantucket. The 54-room hotel sits on the corner of Main Street and Garmisch Street, in the heart of the West End neighborhood and a short walk from downtown. The top suite — the three-bedroom Ajax Penthouse — runs to 1,560 square feet, with a chef’s kitchen, a real log fireplace, and a mountain-view terrace and fire pit. Boston-based Embarc Studio led the modern Alpine design, and the property displays more than 125 commissioned artworks throughout common spaces and guest rooms.
For 2026 summer guests, this is the hotel’s first summer in operation, which means the gardens, the pool deck, and the new Lola 41 dining room are getting their warm-weather debut. We tend to recommend the surrounding Aspen West End area for guests who want to be at White Elephant for dinner without staying inside it — quieter blocks, deeper porches, and homes that fit a family.
MOLLIE Aspen — Now Through Its First Summer
MOLLIE Aspen opened in December 2025 at Main and Garmisch, named for the historic Mollie Gibson Mine. The 68-room hotel features a third-floor terrace with a spa pool and lounge seating, and a rooftop with a wide view of Aspen Mountain. Petit Trois, the on-site restaurant, is Ludo Lefebvre’s first outside Los Angeles. Summer 2026 is the first warm-weather season for MOLLIE Aspen, and reservations for the lounge and dining room are easier to secure than during winter.
Both hotels are part of the Aspen summer landscape. Most of our guests choose private homes for the space, kitchen, and privacy, but these hotels are now the places for dinner, spa appointments, and after-show drinks. Knowing both is part of experiencing Aspen this summer.
What Existing Aspen Resorts Have Refreshed for 2026
Two long-standing resorts will look different this summer than they did last:
- Hotel Jerome — the 1889 landmark on Main Street finished a guest-room renovation that debuts later in the year. The outdoor courtyard, the J-Bar, and the lobby are unchanged, but the rooms themselves have a new facelift.
- The Little Nell — the spa has been fully renovated and now offers a deeper menu of treatments. Day-use spa appointments are open to non-guests, subject to availability, and it’s best to pre-book through our concierge.
- Aspen Meadows Resort — added barrel saunas overlooking the panoramic mountain views, and is in the process of building out a larger wellness space. For groups using Aspen Meadows for retreats, the new sauna deck has become a daily morning fixture.
We coordinate spa, dining, and gym access across all three for guests staying in our exclusive, by-request portfolio, often without the guest needing to know which property is hosting which appointment.
Festivals: The 2026 Calendar in One Glance
Aspen Music Festival & School — July 1 to August 23, 2026
The 2026 Aspen Music Festival runs eight weeks under the theme “For All”, linked to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The full season brings more than 450 young artists from around the world for almost 200 public events. The most-talked-about program is Dame Jane Glover’s two fully staged performances of Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Wheeler Opera House on July 20 and July 22. Guest artists across the season include María Dueñas, Thomas Hampson, Emanuel Ax, Lawrence Brownlee, Joyce DiDonato, Marc-André Hamelin, Gil Shaham, and Alisa Weilerstein.
For listeners who want an outdoor, tent-under-the-stars experience, the David Karetsky Music Tent in the Aspen Meadows campus continues to anchor the season. We hold tickets for our guests through season-pass holders and, where the event is sold out, through the festival’s release-back system.

Aspen Ideas Festival — June 25 to July 1, 2026
The Aspen Ideas Festival is the cultural anchor of the early summer. The 2026 program runs in two back-to-back sessions: Festival 1 (June 25–28) and Festival 2 (June 28–July 1). Pass-holders choose one; Aspen Ideas Patrons attend both. The 2026 theme uses independence — the original kind and the modern kind — as a guiding lens for the conversations.
Aspen Ideas: Health, the festival’s three-day opening segment, runs June 22–25, 2026. For guests who want both, our concierge coordinates the badge logistics, the dinner reservations between sessions, and (most usefully) the late-evening transport home so the day is not spent driving.
Food & Wine Classic in Aspen — June 19–21, 2026
The 43rd edition of the Food & Wine Classic returns to Wagner Park June 19–21, 2026. Detailed coverage of the event, including the chef line-up and where to stay in the heart of the festival footprint, lives in our Aspen Food & Wine Classic guide — refreshed for 2026 in this same content batch.
Snowmass: A New Summer Event Lineup
Snowmass Tourism announced the 2026 summer event lineup, featuring two new additions to the calendar alongside its returning program. The Audi Power of Four Mountain Bike Race — a 25-mile course with 5,000 feet of climbing across Snowmass Village’s best singletrack — is the marquee endurance event of the summer.
Outside the events, the Snowmass mountain itself opens for 2026 summer operations on June 21 and runs through September 7, with Friday-through-Sunday weekends extending into early October. The Elk Camp Gondola provides access to 90+ miles of Snowmass trails. The Snowmass Bike Park’s 25+ miles of lift-accessed downhill and freeride terrain remain among the most varied in the western U.S. Sunset Tuesdays at Elk Camp is back for select Tuesdays through summer 2026 — the bike park stays open later, the chairlifts run into the evening, and dinner moves up to the mid-mountain lodge.
For guests who want to stay close to all of this, our Ski-Out Escape (Snowmass ski-out access) and the Two Creeks Home (Snowmass) are both within walking distance of the lifts and the village dining.
Activities Around Arts, Culture, & Science

Double Take: Recurrent Dialogues in the Art of Herbert Bayer:
June 9, 2026 – April 3, 2027
This exhibition, presented at the Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies, explores recurring themes across Bayer’s work over seven decades—from his Bauhaus beginnings to his later years in Aspen. Featuring paintings, drawings, collages, and photographs, the exhibit presents works in dialogue to highlight the evolution of his ideas across time and mediums. Through this approach, visitors gain a deeper understanding of Bayer’s creative process and his lasting influence on Aspen’s cultural and artistic landscape.
Ice Age Explorer Tours:
June 12, 2026 – August 28, 2026
Every Friday at 3:30 PM, gather at the Limelight Snowmass lobby for a captivating 90-minute guided tour led by an Aspen Science Center educator. Explore Snowmass’s prehistoric past—learn about mammoths, mastodons, and other ancient Ice Age creatures using engaging fossil replicas. After the talk, enjoy the Ice Age Passport Walk through Base Village and Snowmass Mall, featuring art installations inspired by the fossils, and receive a special Ice Age keepsake prize. Free, family-friendly, and no registration required.
New (and Returning) Outdoor Programs
A few quieter additions are worth knowing:
- Snowmass Rodeo continues its long-running summer Wednesday evening run.
- Independence Pass typically opens to vehicle traffic around Memorial Day and closes again in the autumn — the 12,095-foot summit is one of the better afternoon drives in the state once it opens.
- The Grottos ice caves on Independence Pass, an unusual mid-summer hike, draw families looking for something cooler than a low-altitude trail.
- Aspen’s nightly summer concerts and free programming — including the Snowmass Free Thursday concerts and Wagner Park Summer Music — return to the calendar with refreshed line-ups.

New summer programs at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) in 2026
Nature Explorers Family Class: Weekly nature-based class at the Hallam Lake campus that features:
- storytelling, songs, and sensory exploration
- guided walks to investigate seasonal nature themes
- playful learning experiences for children ages 0–4 and their caregivers
The program encourages curiosity and connection with the natural world, all in a welcoming outdoor setting led by an experienced ACES educator, Denali Barron.
Stars Above Aspen: This family-friendly astronomy night takes place on August 10 atop Aspen Mountain. Explore the night sky from 11,212 feet with sunset yoga, hands-on activities, telescope stations, crafts, and a pop-up STARLAB planetarium. It’s an out-of-this-world evening perfect for all ages.
Registration opens in July.
Where to Stay to Be in the Middle of It
Most of what is new in 2026 centers on three areas. The right rental depends on where you want to start your day.
- Aspen West End / Main Street area — closest to White Elephant Aspen, MOLLIE Aspen, and Hotel Jerome. We typically place guests here for the Music Festival and the Ideas Festival. The Mt Hayden Lodge in Aspen Highlands is an alternative for groups that want a more elevated, retreat-style base within a short drive.
- Red Mountain / Red Butte side — quieter, set above the valley, with the kind of evening light most guests remember. 1465 Red Butte Drive sits on this side and is a fit for families who want to be in town in the evening but away from it the rest of the day.
- Snowmass Village — closest to the bike park, the Audi Power of Four start, and the Free Thursday concerts. We place mountain bikers and cycling-event groups here.
For groups planning a wedding, a milestone birthday, a corporate retreat, or another large gathering, our weddings and events team coordinates the property, catering, rentals, and timing in a single brief.
How Our Concierge Handles a Festival-Heavy Summer
All of what’s new Aspen summer 2026 brings is easier to enjoy when someone is coordinating it for you. Aspen Luxury Vacation Rentals is the only full-service hospitality agency in Aspen and Snowmass. In a summer like 2026 — three overlapping festivals, two new hotels, and a refreshed calendar of mountain events — that matters more than usual. Three things our team does that an OTA cannot:
- We hold tickets and badges before they sell out. Our concierge has direct relationships with the box offices and event organizers, and we begin sourcing tickets and passes the moment a guest’s stay is confirmed.
- We sequence the day. A 4 p.m. Ideas Festival panel, followed by an 8 p.m. Music Festival concert, means a 6 p.m. dinner at the right restaurant in the right neighborhood. Each transition is planned so the day flows smoothly.
- We problem-solve in real time. Festival schedules shift. Weather changes. Our team responds in minutes, not hours, and the response is local — a person, not a chatbot.
Concierge service is complimentary for every guest in our exclusive, by-request collection of Aspen homes — read more about what our team does for festival guests.
